Camping at Salmonberry

On August 5, we drove about an hour away down Highway 34 toward the coast to the Salmonberry campground for a weekend of camping with our friends, Brett and Hannah Pynn. We decided only the weekend before that we would go, which is exceptionally impetuous of me.

The trip was a general success with a few hiccups in the way of Benjamin being afraid of any and all campfires and him waking up Saturday night and just as he was falling back asleep, someone smashing a bottle. Sharing a sleeping bag with an 18-month old was definitely cute, if not very restful 🙂

Here are some pictures of us at the campground.

Our half of the campsite.

You can’t really tell but under the canopy of trees, there is a little trail that leads up to a dirt road. Donnie and Benji hiked up and down it often, especially to avoid the campfires.

Waking up Sunday morning in my sleeping bag. At least he slept in until 8:45 a.m.

Sunday morning breakfast

Mmm, yogurt.

Playing (thankfully) while we packed up! And he seemed to ignore the surrounding campfires as well that morning.

Ahhh, so relaxing.

We’re looking forward to buying a bigger tent (we borrowed Mark and Joani‘s bigger one this time; thank you again!) and camping again next summer with a six-month old in tow!
